End-Effector Design and Concept Exploration for Robotic Assisted Surgery

Accelerate Wind is developing rooftop wind turbines that can harness the increased wind speeds that occur at the edges of buildings. Our team supported the installation process by creating infrastructure to characterize and evaluate mounting structures for varied building types, and for characterizing the electrical system.

The 2022-23 GE Healthcare SCOPE team worked to improve CT image quality by creating a tool or process that will allow CT scanner installation technicians to achieve increased alignment precision. 

Boston Scientific has tasked the 2022-2023 BSC SCOPE team with the challenge of improving the current state of their cytology brush and to create a more accurate and efficient tool for physicians.

Boston Scientific, a leader in the medical device industry, tasked the 2023-2024 BSC SCOPE team with the challenge of identifying potential alternative materials to make EVT more effective and minimize the judgement calculations needed for doctors to customize sponges to patients.

Our team worked with New Balance to investigate certain manufacturing processes for New Balance shoes at their Lawrence, MA factory.  

The Olin SCOPE team was tasked with designing a device to perform 96 pH measurements within 15 minutes. This first-in-class technology is an order of magnitude faster than current methods and will greatly expedite the characterization of new formulations.

This year's SCOPE team is working to develop a method and system to dry thin, delicate sheets of fibers in a way that is both time and energy efficient. By researching different methods and prototyping and testing systems, we hope to implement the findings from this project in our pilot line to increase our product throughput and usability.

Our objective was to learn about the possibilities and limitations of modern tools and strategies for near field communication (NFC) in various environments for smartphone-powered IoT. We researched existing technologies and standards, designed a custom PCB, app, and testing rig, and provided data-backed insights to Watts to help their future product designs.
