Casino Night at Olin Was a HUGE Success!

Casino Night took place at the end of the semester as way for students to bond over their shared passion for mocktails, community relationship building, and putting it all on red.
Vishnu Eskew '27 reflects on the experience and how impactful of a night this turned out to be. Student-run campus events are common at Olin. Whether it be formals, town halls, or cheese nights, the active engagement on campus makes it feel like a big community activity happens every weekend.
Casino Night was funded by the Olin student government (CORe), and organized by junior class representative Satchel Schiavo. Thanks to their efforts, a team of 14 professional dealers came to the school, allowing students to play Roulette, Blackjack, Craps, and plenty of Poker. Alongside the professionals, a mocktail bar run entirely by students was present at the event, and I still think about the Piña Colada that Owen Himsworth ‘26 made for me.
At the craps table, I bonded with upperclassmen over our shared confusion about the rules. Over at the poker tables I talked to some freshmen that I didn’t know before the event, and at the bustling blackjack table, my friends and I all got a fun reminder that the house always wins. Of course, students didn’t spend any money at the event, instead we competed for raffle tickets to win a variety of prizes. Some of the most coveted prizes were a Fortnite Lego llama, a Dyson air wrap, and a brand-new pair of air pod pros!
Events like these really help build Olin’s community and bring the classes together.
