Autonomous Tool Changer

Draper is a nonprofit engineering research and development company that creates innovative solutions for customers in government and commercial sectors. As part of Draper’s current research in autonomous mobile manipulation, Draper is developing a system to enable a robotic arm to work with human tools in human environments. Through Olin’s SCOPE program, Olin students are working for Draper on developing a tool-changer for the robotic arm; they will develop the code, build the apparatus, and test the tool changer on a collaborative robot arm to perform simple mechanical tasks in an un-modified human-friendly workspace.
