Autonomous Tool Changer
Draper is a not-for-profit engineering research and development company that creates innovative solutions for customers in government and commercial sectors. As part of their current research in autonomous mobile manipulation, Draper is developing a system to enable a robotic arm to work with human tools in human environments. Through Olin’s SCOPE program, Olin students worked for Draper on developing an autonomous tool changer for the robotic arm; they developed the code, built the apparatus, and tested the tool changer on a robot arm to perform simple mechanical tasks.
