Olin College has an experienced Crisis Management Team in place. Its members have created a comprehensive set of emergency response procedures to deal with crisis situations and have undertaken extensive training to prepare for emergencies.
In the event of an emergency, Olin’s Emergency Alert System (Olin EAS) has the capacity to communicate with all of its students, faculty and staff through phone, e-mail, and text messaging. In addition, communication is provided through the Emergency Preparedness website, the Public Safety Department website, and Public Safety’s Recorded Information line at 1-781-239-4636.
Olin’s Crisis Management Team also monitors possible threats at the national and international levels, and will provide information on the Emergency Planning page of this site as necessary.
While it is impossible for any institution to insure invulnerability to safety threats, we believe the crisis management team in place and the procedures under which they operate are designed to make Olin College as prepared and responsive as possible.
Our emergency plans are reviewed and evaluated on an ongoing basis with the goal of maintaining a model emergency response system which meets the federal government's National Incident Management System Protocol.
In the event of an emergency, members of the College Community may be asked to follow one of two common procedures: Evacuation or Shelter-in-Place.
