Welcome Center for Students and Family

Location:  Milas Hall

Your first stop at OlinCollege should be the WelcomeCenter.  Students will receive their Orientation packet with information on getting their room key, Olin College ID, car registration, and other important details.  Family members can pick-up name tags, get a copy of the Parent Handbook, and ask about the Parent Advisory Board.  Coffee and breakfast snacks are available in the Dining Hall.

             

Residence Hall Move In

After visiting the WelcomeCenter, you may pull around East Drive to the residence hall to unload and move into your new room.  Resident Resources (R2s) will be there to help you carry your belongings to your room.  PLEASE LEAVE ONE PERSON WITH YOUR CAR AT ALL TIMES so that we don’t create a traffic jam of abandoned cars.  When you have unloaded your car, you may return your car to parking Lot A (see enclosed map of Olin).

 

9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Olin Gear for Sale

Location: Dining Hall Lobby

In the lobby of the Olin Dining Hall, you will find the latest Olin Gear.  A variety of hats, shirts, fleeces, sweatshirts, cups, and other Olin gear will be for sale.  Olin Gear will only be open on Saturday for sales in the Dining Hall lobby.

 

11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Welcoming Luncheon

Location:  Dining Hall

Refresh yourself with an informal complimentary light lunch in the Olin Dining Hall.  All family members are welcome!

Presentation of Students to Olin College

Location: Dining Hall

President Rick Miller will welcome you and your family to Olin and then Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Emily Roper-Doten will present the class of 2021 to Provost Vincent Manno.

 

1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Informal Q&A for Parents

Location: Dining Hall

In order to keep parents updated on the latest developments at Olin, administrators will be available to answer questions:  Rae-Anne Butera, Dean of Student Life; Vincent Manno, Provost & Dean of Faculty; and Linda Canavan, Registrar & Associate Dean of Student AffairsIn this program parents will also get to meet with members of the Student Affairs team to discuss the world of student life. We’ll carve out time for questions to discuss everything from growth you can expect to see in the up-coming year to how privacy laws impact communication with parents around grades and medical records. 

3:00 pm -4:00 pm

Parent Orientation Social & Tour

Location: Dining Hall

Join the Family and Alumni Relations Office and the Parents Advisory Board (PAB) for an ice cream cookie sandwich bar social where parents can indulge in a sweet treat while meeting members of the office and the PAB, who will also be on hand to help answer questions. At 4:30pm, parents who haven't been to Olin can take an optional tour of Campus (including Babson) with one of our Resident Resources (R2s). 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Dinner

Location: Dining Hall

We encourage you to enjoy one of the many fine restaurants in Needham and Wellesley. You’ll find everything from Indian and Thai food to pizza made with local grains and organic produce. Dinner will also be served in Olin’s Dining Hall.

8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

“First Night at Olin”

Location: East Hall 1st Floor Lounge

Having just said good-bye to parents and family, new students will meet with the Office of Student Affairs staff and Resident Resources (R2s) to review residence hall policies, provide basic information, and answer questions about life at Olin. THIS MEETING IS REQUIRED.
