Welcome Center for Students and Family

Location:  Milas Hall

Your first stop at Olin College should be the Welcome Center where you will receive your Orientation packet.  Family members can pick-up name tags, network, and meet members of the Development, Family & Alumni Relations team.  Coffee and breakfast snacks are available in the Dining Hall.


Tech Check                                                                   

Location: Campus Center, 212 (Crescent Room)

After visiting the Welcome Center, students will make their way to Tech Check in the Campus Center, where you will obtain your Olin ID, complete car registration, sign-up for our emergency response system, as well as other “techy” items. 


Residence Hall Move In

Once you have your ID, it’s time to move in to your room! Vehicles can be brought behind East Hall and through parking lot B to reach the unloading station. Resident Resources (R2s) will be there to help you carry your belongings to your room.  PLEASE LEAVE ONE PERSON WITH YOUR CAR AT ALL TIMES so that we don’t create a traffic jam of abandoned cars.  When you have unloaded your car, you may return your car to parking Lot A. 


9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Olin Gear for Sale

Location: Dining Hall Lobby

In the lobby of the Olin Dining Hall, you will find the latest Olin Gear.  A variety of hats, shirts, fleeces, sweatshirts, cups, and other Olin gear will be for sale.  Olin Gear will only be open on Saturday for sales in the Dining Hall lobby.


11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Welcoming Luncheon

Location:  Dining Hall

Refresh yourself with an informal complimentary light lunch in the Olin Dining Hall.  All family members are welcome!


1:00 pm – 1:30 pm

Presentation of Students to Olin College

Location: Dining Hall

President Rick Miller will welcome you and your family to Olin and then Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Emily Roper-Doten will present the class of 2022 to Provost Vin Manno.


1:45 pm - 2:30 pm

For Parents

Location: Norden Auditorium

Join Dean of Student Affairs Rae-Anne Butera for a lively discussion about sending your student off to college.  We'll also talk about the importance of our partnership with parents and guardians and the parameters of communication between the College, parents, and students. Bring your questions!


2:30 pm -3:15 pm

Parent Meet and Greet with Development, Family & Alumni Relations

Location: Norden Auditorium

Join the Development, Family & Alumni Relations team for snacks and meet the team. You will hear about how you can get involved and we will also discuss parent resources and answer questions with the StAR team. 


3:15 pm -4:15 pm

Campus Tours

Location: Flag Poles


5:30 pm - 7:30 pm


Location: Dining Hall

We encourage you to enjoy one of the many fine restaurants in Needham and Wellesley. You’ll find everything from Indian and Thai food to pizza made with local grains and organic produce. Dinner will also be served in Olin’s Dining Hall.

Dinner in the Dining Hall is $10.75 per person for family members and other guests. Students use their Olin ID. There is no charge for children under the age of 4. 


Family members and other guests depart prior to the 8 p.m. meeting.

“First Night at Olin”

Location: East Hall 1st Floor Lounge

Having just said goodbye, new students will meet with the Student Affairs and Resources (StAR) team and Resident Resources (R2s) to welcome all new students, review residence hall policies, provide basic information, and answer questions about life at Olin.
