Family Weekend is one of our favorite weekends on campus where we invite families of our students to celebrate all of their accomplishments and experience life at Olin. Over 220 parents and guests attended Family Weekend in 2016!

Family Weekend 2017 is currently scheduled for October 13 - 15; subject to change. The Babson Executive Conference Center room block and group rate have been established. Please make your reservations here and use group code OFF1012We're currently in the process of setting up other room blocks and group rates which will be shared at a later date along with a schedule for 2017.

12 - 5 p.m. Registration and Olin Gear
Visit the Milas Hall Lobby to pick up your registration packet, which includes area maps and attractions, a schedule of events and other helpful information. All of your weekend questions can be answered at the registration desk. A welcome grab-and-go snack station will also be available during this time. Between 12 and 4 p.m., check out what's for sale in the Olin Gear shop in Milas Hall 315. 
12:45 - 1:30 p.m.

Curriculum Innovation at Olin
Learn more about our most recent curriculum updates from Joanne Pratt, associate professor of biological sciences and chair of the Curriculum Innovation Committee. Location: Norden Auditorium, Milas Hall

1:30 - 2:30 p.m. Meet and Greet with Faculty and Staff
Join faculty and staff in the newly renovated Library (Milas Hall) as you get to know one another. Acronym, a student-run pop-up coffee bar, will be providing coffee/tea and baked goods in addition to the welcome grab-and-go snack station in the Lobby of Milas Hall.
2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Design 101 for Families
Explore the Olin curriculum through this activity hand-picked from a first-year course called Design Nature. There's no better way to learn about "the Olin way" than to experience it first-hand. In this session, Olin students will facilitate a hands-on building project where we'll make Hopper creations inspired by nature. Come ready to design, experiment, fail and iterate! Location: Crescent Room, Campus Center (2nd floor)
3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Student Showcase and Demos
Olin students don't just learn -- they engineer impressive projects! See the results of their hard work for yourselves through a showcase of awesome creations, including vehicles. Stop by the first floor of the Academic Center (AC) for a student-led tour of our machine shops and fabrication spaces.  
4:30 - 5 p.m.

Olin Conductorless Orchestra performance
Enjoy a special musical performance by Olin's very own Conductorless Orchestra. Location: Mezzanine, Milas Hall (2nd floor)

5 - 7 p.m.

Olin Family Welcome Dinner
Savor the moment to reunite with fellow Olin family members as we welcome everyone to campus during this family dinner. This complimentary meal will feature a seasonal New England menu along with wine and beer for those 21+ (I.D. required). Location: Dining Hall, Campus Center

7:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Art with Heart Show
Art with Heart is a philanthropic club focused on both fostering involvement in the arts and supporting projects that help the world. Make sure you catch their show, featuring a variety of art pieces and as well as both individual and group student performances, like PowerChords and others. Dessert and other refreshments will be available. Location: Norden Auditorium, Library and Lobby, Milas Hall

8:30 - 9:30 p.m.

Fire Arts Performance
Witness this unique display of student talent and passion for fire performance by the Olin Fire Arts Club (OFAC). Using different tools and alternating movements, these artists will take turns twirling and spinning fire to create beautiful red and orange patterns for your entertainment.

10 - 10:30 a.m.

College Update with Q&A (and Continental Breakfast)
President Miller will share an overview of last year's accomplishments and Olin's goals for the year ahead, with a Q&A session to follow. A complimentary continental breakfast will be provided in the Norden Auditorium Gallery beginning at 9:30 a.m.

10:30 - 11 a.m.

What to Expect vs. What You are Expecting
Hear from our Dean of Student Affairs Rae-Anne Butera as she provides an overview of the office and presents on what to expect as your student(s) transition through their college careers. Location: Norden Auditorium, Milas Hall

11 - 11:30 a.m.

Jobs, Grad School and Building the Olin Network 
Director of Post-Graduate Planning (PGP) Sally Phelps will let you know how her team has been preparing students for the internship/job search, as well as conducting seminars and holding discussions on graduate school, research and fellowships. Location: Norden Auditorium, Milas Hall

11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

The Olin Family: A PAB Update to the Parent Community
Join Chair Nagib Hakim P'17 and other members of the Parent Advisory Board (PAB) as they share their mission, accomplishments and upcoming initiatives. Are you interested in being a part of the PAB or want to volunteer on a parent initiative? Join us to learn how you can help with new student recruitment, campus events, parent communication, networking and more. 

12 - 1 p.m.

This complimentary meal will be offered in the Dining Hall for those who prefer to stay on campus. 

1:30 - 2:30 p.m.

Engineer Your Own Adventure
This creative build activity will challenge your mind and body through a physical, team-oriented design adventure. Teaser: there may or may not be giant Legos involved. Location: Great Lawn 

2:30 p.m. and on

Explore, lunch and dinner on your own
Take advantage of this great opportunity to explore the Boston area on your own. A helpful guide complete with area museums, shops, restaurants and other "hot spots" in the Greater Area Boston Guide section of the 2016-17 Parent Handbook (available on our website). Should you be back on campus, you are welcome to have dinner in the Dining Hall. (This is a pay-at-the-door cost for parents and guests; students will be included in their meal plan.)

Family Brunch
If you'd like to enjoy a meal before you depart, the Dining Hall will be open for brunch. (This is a pay-at-the-door meal for parents and guests. Students are included in their meal plan.)

9:15 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Breakfast and Supporting Olin After Your Student Graduates
Bring your breakfast to the Crescent Room (accessible from the Dining Hall second floor Mezzanine), and join Development staff member Beth Miaoulis in a discussion on ways to stay involved after your student graduates. We’ll brainstorm about messaging on the impact of philanthropy and creating engaging alumni parent opportunities. Breakfast is complimentary for those who RSVP in advance. A meal ticket will be provided when you check in at Registration.
