Rick Osterberg Named Chief Information Officer

Olin College of Engineering has named Rick Osterberg as its new Chief Information Officer.

Osterberg most recently served as the Deputy Chief Information Officer at Simmons College. He began his career at Harvard University, where he served in a number of key positions during his lengthy tenure including as Director, Technology and Data Services, in the Harvard University Information Technology group.  Osterberg also worked for Tufts University Technology Services as the Senior Technology Strategist. He brings a broad set of IT experiences to his new role at Olin College, including a depth of leadership experience in all aspects of technology services.

Osterberg’s strategic vision, technical acumen, and strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential as the College embarks on the development and implementation of “Olin IT 2.0” – the first major, comprehensive IT analysis and planning process since the College opened in 2002.

Executive Vice President Stephen Hannabury said, “We are delighted to have Rick on board as we enter a new phase of IT development for the future. We look forward to his guidance and leadership as we advance our IT plan to reflect our innovative learning community and the need for efficient operations.”

Osterberg graduated cum laude from Harvard with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He is currently enrolled in an MS in Engineering Management program at the Gordon Institute at Tufts University.

Following a competitive swimming career, Osterberg volunteers a great deal of his time with swimming-related organizations and directs and manages swimming and diving meets.
