Position Title: Director of Advancement Services

Overview of the College:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages all operational functions related to major gift portfolio management reporting, gift and pledge processing, biographical and prospect data entry and reporting. This includes overseeing all data management and reporting for DFAR activities involving the use of the Jenzabar Institutional Advancement database and the management of processes to ensure the proactive engagement of annual fund, special gifts and  major gift prospects by the DFAR team and others in the College, and the accuracy of DFAR’s financial, biographical, and prospect data;
  • Directly supervises Data Manager and Researcher;
  • Serves as the department liaison with the offices of Information Technology, Financial Affairs and other departments that use the Jenzabar database;
  • Oversees prospect management activities, including prospect analysis, moves management, planning, implementation, reporting and plans adjustment;
  • Works with Vice President and Director of Development to prepare reports for the President and Board of Trustees that track and analyze progress towards goals. Responsible for the preparation of reports for the Board of Trustees and provides staff support to the Trustee Development Committee and other committees;
  • Contributes to the creation of fundraising strategies and priorities, and provides prospect management and research in support of donor identification, engagement, gift acquisition, and stewardship;
  • Develops and implements the skills and behaviors associated with design thinking, systems thinking and team collaboration—hallmarks of Olin College;
  • Continues professional development as it relates to the many aspects of the field of institutional advancement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree required;
  • Minimum four years of experience in advancement services;
  • Proven record of successful development team management;
  • Knowledge of fundraising, utilization of data management systems in fund-raising and the prospect management process;
  • Excellent communicator with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a teamwork atmosphere with other development and College personnel;
  • The ambition to grow one’s program, delight in bringing satisfaction to donors and support to Olin College and to celebrate the success of the team;
  • Ability to motivate staff and colleagues, especially those responsible for major gift fundraising and ensure quality work from them;
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills;
  • Ability to set annual, monthly and weekly goals, and plan causal actions: act, evaluate, adjust and regularly report progress toward goals.
