Alisha Sarang-Sieminski, Ph.D
|Director, Senior Capstone Program in Engineering
Associate Professor of Bioengineering
Olin College of Engineering
Needham, MA 02492-1200
B.S. Chemical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Ph.D. Bioengineering, University of Pennsylvania
Dr. Alisha Sarang-Sieminski came to Olin from the Biological Engineering Division at MIT, where she was a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award post-doctoral fellow. Prior to that, she received her Ph.D. in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in chemical engineering from MIT. Dr. Sarang-Sieminski's research interests revolve around how cells interact with and perceive their immediate surroundings — with a focus on cell mechanics and cell-biomaterial interactions. Since coming to Olin, Dr. Sarang-Sieminski has enjoyed developing new Bioengineering courses focused on transport in biological systems, tissue engineering, cell mechanics and biological thermodynamics.
